DIY Tassel Earrings

Tassel jewelry is all over the fashion blogs and insta lately and we are LOVING IT. When we spy a trend we love we focus our creative energy on creating a modern DIY project out of the fashion crush. We'll show you how to make a pair of these edgy earrings to go with those hot new boots you've been wearing. Ok, maybe I'm the one who needs a couple of big tassel earrings to match the drama of my new black boots? Either way, let's do this.

First up, these bold beauties. Depending on your style vibe these could be for a special occasion or everyday wear. Or something in between, date night perhaps?

Step 1: Thread gold beads onto a thick sewing string or embroidery floss. Wrap the beads around the top of the tassel and make sure you have enough to go all the way around. Sew the thread into the tassel and trim the ends.

Step 2: Loop a new piece of thread through the top center of the tassel. Thread BOTH ends through a gold bead so that all the thread is coming out of the top of the bead like a pretty little bead fountain.

Step 3: Separate the threads and loop one end through the earring hook. Grab the other end of the thread and triple knot the earring hook onto the bead. Trim the ends, and you’re done!

Pink Lady Tassel

For this one we used a long gold bead for embellishment. You could space the beads out like we did or you can completely cover the gathered area of the tassel- have fun with it!

Step 1: Knot the end of a thread and poke your needle through the bottom of the tassel so it hides the knot. Thread your bead onto the needle and sew it on tightly so you can’t see the thread. Continue around the tassel until you’ve added your desired number of beads.

Step 2: Repeat the above steps 2 and 3 that we used for the black tassel to finish the earring!

All we did for this little guy was sew the earring hook onto the top center and hide the knot inside the tassel by wiggling the threads around. Sometimes, it’s just that easy!
