How To Decorate a Naked Cake | Cake Basics

Asset 2

Bow chik-a wow-wow! Today on Cake Basics, our cake's getting naked. We're showing you how to decorate a deliciously fruity cake. Bring on the berries and let's get naked!

Here’s how to make this yummy and light(?) cake. Can a three layer cake be light? Anyway, here’s the super simple recipe!

1. Combine both types of frosting on the first layer of cake and smooth out the frosting with a spatula ’till flattened. Repeat that process for two more layers, keeping in mind that “naked cake” means minimum frosting. It sounds weird to decorate without much frosting, but it turns out gorgeous, we promise!

2. Add assorted berries to the top of the cake. We used raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries. Yeah, basically ALLLL the berries. YUM.

3. Top the whole thing off with a handful of your favorite chopped nuts. We used pistachios for a bit of crunch and their pretty green color.

How pretty is that?! And it’s super delicious too. The tart berries and the sweet frosting are a match made in heaven. Get naked. Get into it.
