You feel that? Yeah, the heat is on. And if you're experiencing the heat that we have here on the west coast, you already know that it's time to start preparing the bbq grills and start setting up for those summertime parties, because once Memorial Day weekend hits here in the states, it's summertime. Get a head start by knowing how to impress your friends with your cocktail making skills and this sweet and refreshing classic Sangria recipe that will leave them wanting more!

Note to any beginners: this summer sangria recipe from Whitney Adams is definitely a go-to in our book, but remember you can customize your Sangria to your own liking. You can add your own variety of favorite berries or fruits and mix it in with whichever alcohol you’d prefer. This recipe is pretty forgiving too – just as long as it looks and tastes good, you’re set!

STEP 1: First, you want to grab all your berries and put them in a clean pitcher to start off the sangria. We’re using 1/4 to 1/2 up of strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries each to make sure it has that fruity tart kick to it.

STEP 2: Next, you want to grab one 750 ml bottle of rosé wine. We chose a California rosé, but feel free to pick your poison on whichever type of booze you’d like that would blend in well with fruits you added earlier.

STEP 3: Next, add even more booze to your mix. Add one cup of white rum and 1/2 cup of orange liqueur, that will be sure add a little bit more depth and zest to your sangria.

STEP 4: Grab 4 cups of Italian orange soda, and pour them in the pitcher, which adds a little bit more fizz and brightness to the cocktail. Stir together till everything has mixed well, and let it sit for 45 minutes to an hour. If you have more time and want to make sure that the cocktail has the best flavor, let it sit in the fridge overnight, or let it sit for a few hours.

STEP 5: Next, grab your strawberries and cut slices that are thick enough to be placed on the rim of your sangria glass.

STEP 6: Grab your pitcher and glass and begin to pour your sangria for your guests! Make sure that the berries in the pitcher are evenly-distributed (you might have to grab a spoon to take them out as well). Garnish with a slice of the strawberries you cut earlier, and there you go! Just like that you have a great and delicious sangria recipe that will keep you cool all summer!
