CBD California High Tide Tea Cocktail Recipe
By Kelsey Formost

Besides the perpetual sunshine and excellent cold-pressed juice bars, there's another perk to our offices being in sunny So Cal: the availability CBD oil. This 4/20, we added CBD oil to our favorite bourbon iced tea recipe to create a seriously delicious and refreshing drink that you can enjoy with or without the extra helping hand of hemp!

materials
  • 2 cups water, boiled for tea
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1 chai tea bag
  • at least 1 each citrus fruits, lemon, orange, lime
  • 2 Tbsp honey
  • 8 drops CBD oil, (2 drops per glass)
  • ice

Duuuude. We are loving this recipe we came up with that combines CBD oil with refreshing bourbon iced tea! For those curious non-California residents, CBD oil is the non-psychoactive extract from the cannabis plant. Non-psychoactive translating to if you eat it, you don't "get high". But you DO get a lot of nutrients and antioxidants! It's also touted as a natural painkiller, muscle relaxer, and anxiety reducer. CBD Oil is legal in 44 states and you can buy it at the health food store in the vitamin and supplement section (unless you live in Idaho, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Indiana, or West Virginia where they consider every part of the cannabis plant, including CBD, to be illegal.)

If CBD Oil isn't your thing, no worries! You can make this recipe for bourbon iced tea without it and still enjoy a lovely, refreshing cocktail in every state in the union. Cheers!

Step 1: First, make the chai tea by bringing water to boil, add tea bag and remove from heat. Let steep for at least 5-10 minutes, longer for a stronger flavor. Pour it in to your shaker.

Step 2: Add honey to tea and stir to combine thoroughly. Make sure that it mixes in completely.

Step 3: Time to add in your CBD oil (if it is available to you).  We used a spray bottle of CBD oil, and added the recommended two sprays per serving (this cocktail serves four). Generally, two drops per serving should be right, but of course, you should always read the label on the oil you purchase for dose suggestions.
Step 4:
Remove tea bag from chai mixture if you haven't already, and shake your mixture in the shaker. Chill in the fridge for at least 20 minutes. It's best if you can leave in the fridge longer so the mixture cools completely.

Step 5: Prep your pitcher; slice your citrus fruits and line the sides of your pitcher. Add in ice to hold them in place. Not only does this make the cocktail taste delicious but it looks stunning, too!

Step 6: Pour one cup of your favorite Bourbon whiskey over ice, and then add in your chilled chai mixture. Stir it up, and you're ready to serve!

Add some slices of fruit to your serving glasses for an extra pop of color and flavor. All that's left to do is sit back, and relaaaaaaax with your refreshing CBD "California High Tide Tea" cocktail! Bottoms up, y'all!
