DIY Paint Balloon Art Canvas

Asset 2

Cue the circus music: this project provides a fun twist on the standard carnival game, where the prize afterwards is a splashy original art piece! Set it up as part of a themed birthday party, a fun dart game for a summer BBQ, or just as a unique way to create some new apartment décor. Once the balloons have been popped, hang your new painting in your home office for a splash of colour, or share it as an adorable one-of-a-kind gift. The perfect souvenir of a memorable night!

First of all – be sure to put on some clothes that you don’t mind getting messy. We recommend doing this one outdoors, and putting up a tarp to prevent splashing the walls!

STEP 1: Cut the cardboard down enough so it can be tucked in the canvas frame to provide support.

STEP 2: Place a balloon over the narrow end of the funnel. Pour a small amount of acrylic paint into the funnel, letting it trickle into the balloon.

STEP 3: Carefully remove the balloon and place onto the balloon pump. Inflate the balloon and tie off. Repeat with the rest of the balloons.

STEP 4: Attach the balloons to the canvas with thumbtacks – make sure to attach them at the tied off ends, so as to not pop the balloon!

Now invite some friends over, pop a bottle of prosecco, and take turns tossing darts at the balloons to create splashes of colour on the canvas. Here’s a fun twist: fill only one of the balloons with gold or bronze paint, and don’t say which one it is. Whoever hits that one gets to keep the painting!
