A gauzy tulle skirt laid over a pencil A-line skirt, or some relaxed jean shorts, is such a daring unique way to spice up an ensemble. This skirt is so easily made, once you get one down, you’ll want to whip one up in every colour. Both rogue and romantic, this elegant addition will have every eye on you!
STEP 1: Grab your tulle: on the top right corner, we’re going to do two straight stitches going straight down the edge, about one centimeter in from the edge. Make sure your sewing machine is on the biggest stitch length possible. Do one stitch going down, and another one parallel, about half a centimeter further in.
STEP 2: Now that we’ve sown our stitches, there will be two threads on top, and two threads on the bottom of our fabric. Grab the two top threads and tie them off in a knot – leave the bottom threads free-hanging.
STEP 3: Grab the two free-hanging threads, and pull gently – the tulle will start gathering, which is exactly what we want! Continue pulling until the whole length bunches up – we want to bring it in until it’s roughly the measurement of your hips. Bring the two ends together and tie them into a knot to form a circle of tulle.
Wear it with a black unitard to channel your inner Morticia Addams, or just some relaxed jeans to stay loose and feminine! Perfect for festival season! If you like this DIY, make sure to show us and tag us @BeMakeful and @WithWendy and make sure to sue #SewBoss!
