Baby, it's STILL cold outside. And there's nothing like a warm drink with a little whiskey kick to warm you right up! This twist on the traditional Hot Toddy recipe uses chai tea for an extra dose of spicy goodness that will have you feeling warm and cozy in no time. Also, it's super easy.
- 2 T honey
- 1 lemon juiced
- 1 tsp or 1 teabag chai tea
- 3 shots whiskey or bourbon
- 3 Cups hot water
The origins of the Hot Toddy go back to a centuries-old remedy for the common cold. Many people still use the Hot Toddy as a way to fight off sickness, but the immunity boost is just a bonus compared to the deliciousness of this comforting chai and whiskey bevvie. Ok, let’s do this.
1. Put the kettle on to boil 3 cups water.
2. In a teapot or french press combine honey, juice of 1 lemon (straining out those pesky seeds), 3 shots of whiskey or bourbon, and a teaspoon of loose leaf chai tea
(or just use a teabag like we did, we ain’t fancy).
3. Once the water is boiling, add hot water and stir. Let sit for about 3 minutes and you’re ready to cozy up with your new fave winter drink…mmmmmm.
You can also make the chai with lemon and honey separately and add or forego the shot of whiskey in your cup afterward if you want the option of serving a non-alcoholic version. Cheers!
