Grown Up Candycane Cocoa

For those nights when your stockings are hung by the chimney (or mantle or shelf) with care…and your feet are propped up on the couch after walking and driving around for hours looking for that perfect gift your mother-in-law-won’t judge. All you need is some freaking COMFORT AND JOY…enter Grown Up Candycane Cocoa!

Materials
  • 1.5 oz / 1 shot peppermint schnapps per cup
  • hot cocoa mix
  • milk
  • whipped cream for topping
  • 1 candy cane to stir

This is like a mint mocha with a dirty little secret; instead of mint flavored syrup, we substituted peppermint schnapps. For those days when Santa’s little helper needs a little help (AKA a liquid attitude adjustment). Mmmmmm, on this chilly, busy winter day I’m feeling like having one. I mean it’s 5 o’clock somewhere, right? Back to the recipe (wink).

1. Heat the milk on the stove.

2. Pour your shot (or shots, we’re not judging) of schnapps into the bottom of your mug along with 2 T hot cocoa mix.

3. Pour the hot milk into the mug, stirring as you go until mixed completely. The anticipation is killing me.

4. Top with whipped cream. Stick in a candy cane for stirring…and cuteness.
