How To Make Yummy Floral Donuts

Asset 2

Nobody can resist a warm, delicious donut, and today we're showing you how to take your donuts up a notch. We're making three different donut glazes and decorating with some super cute edible flowers to give your donuts a deliciously fresh and floral feel and taste.

First of all, check a reputable list of edible flowers to make sure you buy ones that are pesticide free and totally safe to eat. We used edible pansies, snap dragons, mini roses, and geranium flowers (pesticide free) that we bought in packs at our local grocery store. You can find them in the produce section, next to the fresh herbs. Delicious AND beautiful! What more could you ask for?”

To Make the Donuts:
1.
Preheat the oven to 350°. Spray 2 donut pans well. We don’t want our yummy donuts sticking to the pan!

2. Sift together the dry ingredients including the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Then, in a small bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla. Stir the wet mixture into the dry ingredients until mixed.

3.
Carefully spoon the mixture into the donut baking pans, filling each mold a little more than three-quarters full. Bake for 15-18 minutes, depending on your oven. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before dipping in your glaze of choice!

To learn how to make the delicious lemon lavender glaze, orange blossom glaze, and fresh strawberry glaze, follow the instructions below!

Lemon Lavender Glaze:

1. Squeeze 1-2 tablespoons of lemon juice into a bowl. Mix with powdered sugar and milk until the glaze is at the consistency you like.

2. Start with 1 tablespoon of milk and 1.5 cups of powdered sugar and go from there. Add more sugar if you want to thicken the glaze, and add more milk if you want to thin it out.

3. Top with dried lavender and purple edible flowers.

Orange Blossom Glaze:

1. Squeeze 1-2 tablespoons of orange juice into a bowl. Add an additional teaspoon of orange extract.

2. Mix with powdered sugar and milk until the glaze is at the consistency you like. Start with 1 tablespoon of milk and 1.5 cups of powdered sugar and go from there. Add more sugar if you want to thicken the glaze, and add more milk if you want to thin it out.

3. Top with orange blossoms and orange flowers.

Strawberry Glaze:

1. Cut and mash 1/4 cup of strawberries and add to a bowl.

2. Mix with powdered sugar and milk until the glaze is at the consistency you like. Start with 1 tablespoon of milk and 1.5 cups of powdered sugar and go from there. Add more sugar if you want to thicken the glaze, and add more milk if you want to thin it out.

3. Top with some pink and red flowers.

How gorgeous are these donuts?! And besides being beautiful, they taste AMAZING. The sweet and tart fruit glazes combine so well with the fresh florals on top and make for one heck of a delicious party treat.
