OK. I know what you're thinking. "Frozen Pizza?...hmm." But I promise you, my word as an Italian, this is one of the easiest ways to turn an ordinary dish into a gourmet meal that would fool even my 'Nonna'.
Everyone has those days (or, let’s be honest, weeks) when we just don’t have time or energy to make dinner from scratch. But getting takeout every night can add up quickly. Try this nifty trick to use fresh ingredients to dress up a frozen pizza and turn it into restaurant-worthy fare. Pro Tip: use a higher end frozen pizza. We used a four-cheese pizza from CPK. You’ll be glad you spent the extra couple bucks, I promise.
1. Prepare your ingredients; thinly slice your onion into rings, chop the cilantro, and slice the garlic.
2. Remove your pizza from its packaging and while it’s still frozen add your extras. Crumble the queso all over, and top with the onion rings, cilantro, sliced garlic, and red pepper flakes.
3. Bake according to package instructions. When it comes out of the oven, you’ll have turned a ‘meh’ frozen pizza into (dare I say) a culinary masterpiece. My ‘Nonna’ would be proud.
And, hey, this is just one way to do it! You can use almost anything in your fridge to dress up frozen ‘za. It’s also an awesome hack for prepping for parties when you’re low on time because you spent hours making glitter balloons (true story). Once you’ve tried this trick, something tells me you’re gonna be a repeat offender.
Side Note: the leftover slices make a great breakfast or next-day work lunch. I’ve tested this theory. A lot.
