The stars were out in full force at the Barkar Hangar in Santa Monica, California Saturday for the 2018 MTV Movie and TV Awards, with celebs like Mandy Moore, Aubrey Plaza and Zendaya gracing the red carpet with some stellar looks. Flowing embellishments, polished silhouettes and elegant colour palettes were a few of the running themes for the day, but feminine lace and glam sequins also made a few show-stopping appearances.
Without further ado, here are 10 of the most gorgeous looks from this year’s MTV Movie and TV Awards:
Mandy Moore looked sleek and ultra-glam in a bodycon mini dress by Alberta Ferretti. The This Is Us star pulled her hair back in a rocker-chic ponytail, and finished the look with a pair of dazzling drop earrings and metallic silver eye shadow.
“Going for a full @jlo look at @mtv awards tonight because why not??” The star captioned her Instagram snap from the day.
Madelaine Petsch, who plays Cheryl Blossom on Riverdale, graced the red carpet wearing a posh and pretty Prada gown with pink mesh overlay. As gorgeous as the gown was, though, the star shared that she had a wardrobe malfunction later in the evening, and her co-star, Lili Reinhart, had to save the day. Oops!
“Little does this Madelaine know that in 2 and a half hours @lilireinhartwould be safety pinning the bottom half of her dress so her butt doesn’t become exposed to the world,” she captioned her post.
Speaking of Reinhart, the 21-year-old actress who plays Betty Cooper on Riverdale walked the red carpet in a chic black lace and tulle gown by Izeta Gadzhieva, accessorizing with a delicate pair of Jimmy Choos and loose waves.
Actress and comedian Aubrey Plaza showed off her toned legs in a feminine frock by Italian designer Elisabetta Franchi. The Parks and Rec star was nominated for Best Villain for her role as Lenny Busker in Legion.
Alison Brie stunned in a statement-making black and white frock by Sandy Liang, a chic high pony, and platform heels by Sophia Webster. The actress, who’s known for her roles in Community and GLOW, captioned her Instagram post of her look:
“Tonight’s look giving me LIFE.” Us too, Alison!
Canadian actress Vanessa Morgan of The Latest Buzz and Finding Carter was all va-va-voom in a red sequins gown with a plunging neckline and a Jolie-esque slit. The Canuck knocked her look right out of the park—you’d never know it was her first time attending the awards show. Jessica Rabbit vibes, indeed.
Choosing to forgo a dress, Olivia Munn opted instead for a chic emerald green pantsuit by London designer Galvan. The Newsroom actress showed off her cleavage with a plunging neckline, finishing the look with a low, loose pony. Munn wrote she was “reppin'” the TV series, Six, in which she plays CIA Operations Officer Gina Cline.
Actress and singer Zendaya made a chic statement in a brown leather August Getty dress with a domed skirt. She completed the look with brown Christian Louboutin shoes and oval Paula Mendoza earrings made of Colombian gold. The Greatest Showman star described her look as a “fine ass unwrapped, caramel filled Hershey’s kiss,” and we couldn’t have put it better ourselves.
A Wrinkle in Time star Storm Reid looked polished in an elegant Viktor & Rolf frock. The black dress had a sleek silhouette with a row of feminine bows near the hem, making it hard to believe this fashionista is only 14 years old.
Yara Shahidi of Black-ish and its spin-off series, Grown-ish, looked svelte in a baby blue pantsuit. The ensemble was custom-made with vintage fabrics by Tory Burch, and Shahidi accessorized with nude pumps and gold drop earrings.
“Zoot suiting in vintage fabrics ✨ thank you @toryburch for this custom piece of the sky + @mtv for a great show ✨,” the eighteen-year-old captioned her Instagram post.
