Lucite Toothbrush Bracelets | Obsessed

Ok, you heard us. Lucite Toothbrush Bracelets. And you were like, what? Mind blown. Check out the tutorial below to make your very own colorful, playful lucite cuffs as promised by Miss Kris on her show Obsessed. We're kind of obsessed with this idea.

On the Falling in Love with Lucite | Obsessed episode, Miss Kris teased this tutorial on how to make these bright bracelets from you heard us correctly, TOOTHBRUSHES.

Step 1: Find brightly colored toothbrushes that will make good bracelets. The ones with patterns or are clear work perfectly. It’s better if there is no rubber gripping, just plastic. Pro tip: thicker toothbrushes don’t bend as easily as thin ones.

Step 2: Boil hot water to heat the toothbrush until soft. When the water is bubbling rapidly remove it from the stove burner. Drop in the toothbrush. Wait until the plastic starts to soften. Make sure you leave the toothbrush in there for 8-12 minutes. You may need to leave it in for more or less time depending on how hot the water is and the thickness of your toothbrush.

Step 3: Take the toothbrush out of the water with tongs, and set it on a dish towel. Let it cool from boiling hot to warm, but don’t let it cool off completely. The bristle holes will widen in the heat, so now you can use tweezers or pliers to pluck the bristles.

Step 4: Don’t burn yourself, girl! Safety first. Pick up the toothbrush using a dish towel. Bend it into the shape of your new bracelet. An easy way to do this is to use the outside of a glass or jar with the same diameter you want your bracelet to be.

Step 6: Slip off the toothbrush and dunk it into a bowl of ice water. In about 5 seconds, the plastic will be hard again, and you can try it on. If it doesn’t fit, or it doesn’t look right, put it back into the hot water for a minute, and repeat shaping until it turns out the way you want it.

Enjoy wearing your cute new toothbrush bracelet. How many people can say they’ve WORN a toothbrush? You. That’s who.
